Plain definitions for every site term.
TRACE organizes each building or property as a Site, a dated walkthrough as a Visit, and an accepted 3D reconstruction as a Record. These terms keep the spot, the date and the review status distinct.

From capture to Site history.
- Record
An accepted spatial reconstruction that an operator can inspect for a Visit.
TRACE opens each accepted record in the browser.
- Visit
A dated trip to a Site, created by a person with the date they choose.
Uploads and their results attach to that Visit. Upload time and camera time do not silently replace its date.
- Site frame
The common coordinate frame used to relate a Site’s Visits.
Each visit is lined up with the site’s reference once a person accepts the match.
- Camera path
The camera’s estimated positions and orientations at sampled times in a clip.
TRACE derives paths from placed keyframes. Unobserved intervals are not independently solved positions.
- 4D playback
A Visit’s footage played in sync with its camera path inside the 3D Record.
Follow the camera, look around freely, or view the visit from above.
- Held-out view
An image reserved from training to evaluate the resulting reconstruction.
TRACE checks evaluation splits and per-view scores. The warehouse example is pose-assisted; withheld training images do not imply independent camera estimation.
- SOG
A compressed Gaussian scene format used to deliver a Record to the browser.
A checked SOG rendition serves the Record; the accepted PLY retains its identity. Export fidelity and reconstruction quality are separate measurements.
- Gaussian splatting
A 3D representation made of many spatial Gaussian elements whose appearance is blended to render a view.
TRACE trains its records from the placed images of each visit.
Questions, answered.
Is a Record the entire history of a Site?
No. A Record is an accepted reconstruction for a Visit. Site history is the collection of Visits, Records, Sources, Findings and work over time.
